Presentation at Multicultural Education Conference at CSUS
As an teacher, I quite often encounter cynicism about our educational system. So, when I have an opportunity to talk with other educators about what is working in our schools, the good stuff, it always lifts my spirit. There are so many dedicated educators out there doing so many great things and last Saturday at CSUS, I had the chance to share (with 30 or so ) of them my passion for bringing Mindfulness to our schools. Educators who are excited about bringing it to their schools!
While there is a huge push to bring what has been coined Social Emotional Learning (SEL), there is not always a great deal of support for teachers to make it come alive in their schools. If we truly value self-care and well-being for our students and and their educators, Mindfulness can be instrumental in making this intention a reality in our school environments.
